College students receive offers from the National Centre for Motorsport Engineering

The relationship between Ƶ and the University of Bolton continues to grow, with 25 of the College’s Motor Vehicle students receiving conditional offers of placements at the University’s new National Centre for Motorsport Engineering(NCME).  

The students, consisting of Level 3 apprentices and those on full-time study programmes, were welcomed to thecentre by DrZubairHanslot, before receiving conditional offer certificates for the Motorsport Technology undergraduate programme.

The two institutions are currently undergoing a merger and are working together to ensure that all learners are able to enjoy the benefits of thestate-of-the-art£13 millionNCME facility. Clear progression pathways from the College's popular Motor Vehicle programmes to the University's Motorsport and Engineering programmes are in place. College students will also be studying inNCME, taking advantage of its pioneering facilities and receiving masterclasses from its motorsport experts. 

As well as receiving their certificates, the students learnt about the history of motorsport before taking a tour of the facilities and participating in some practical exercises.

John Hawkins, a full-time Level 3 student said, “The place is amazing and I loved the cars in the showroom, especially theLamborghini. I can't wait to start classes here this term and then when I finishcollege, I'm hoping I get the grades to come and study here as an undergraduate”.

Besides the £400,000Lamborghini, thecentre is also home to an impressive collection ofracingcars; a F1 car, Nissan British Touring Carand aG40GinettaGT car.

Bill Webster, Principal of Ƶ said, “Our STEM Centre is based right next to thenew developmentso over the past year, we’ve seen the building taking shape. Having looked around, it’s as impressive on the inside as it is on the outside. Our learners are really going to enjoy the benefits of theNational Centre of MotorsportEngineering,it's a place that will bring out the very best in them".  

Dr Mark Busfield, Director of theNational Centre of Motorsport Engineering added, “These learners are our future students so today was a wonderful opportunity to introduce them to thecentre. We will continue to work closely with Ƶ and provide fantastic opportunities for all learners”.
